I think we all at some point in our childhood had something that spooked as out at bed time. I used to see shadows from my dresser and toys that I would always imagine as monsters. I would have to put the covers over my head to block them out. I guess I thought if I couldn't see them they couldn't see me. I remember when getting into bed at night time I would have to get in fast so the critters under my bed wouldn't get my piggies. Of course I would never leave my arms or legs exposed hanging out of my bed for fear the critters would get them when I was sleeping. I don't know what age I got over these fears, but I do know there was many a nights I freaked myself out enough I would creep into my parents room after they were asleep and conk out on their floor by their bed. Funny thing is I would lay on the floor by their bed and not even think that hey had critters under their bed...I guess they didn't like adults.
I was making Hunter's bed yesterday and it got me thinking about these bedtime fears of mine. Hunter has his own...he has to have not only his headboard covered, but the posts covered too. One night he kept getting out of bed telling us the posts of his bed was scaring him. We went through the whole bit of they were just his bed posts and they weren't going to hurt him and we were in the room next to him. When that comforting didn't help we put a pillow in front his face and told him not to look at them. That seemed to work for a couple of nights until he decided it would just be best if he covered them all together. So each night as part of our bedtime routine we have to make sure the blankets are properly placed so he can have a good nights sleep...

It's so funny how most of us seem to have those night thoughts. I remember I couldn't handle my limbs hanging out either. I think it's funny how the bed posts are BEHIND him and he still feels the need to hide them. My worries were more what was in my direct vision.
So funny! My mom got Jordan a poster of dinosaurs one time and he woke me up screaming saying SOMEBODY PLEASE JUST TAKE THAT POSTER DOWN! Poor kid! We moved it to the inside of his closet and he slept better ;)
That is funny! Good memories to be!
Samuel has a wild imagination. He has a fear of "scadrons". I have never heard of this and looked it up and found nothing, apparently something he made up but still is afraid of them and says they are like shadows but made with dots and they go in you and it feels like you are being tickled and you can't get away. Tell me that isn't scary! I told him he should write a book about them...the next Stephen King!
