Scratch Patch

This past weekend we went to Washington to visit my cousin Abby who I haven't seen in almost 14 years. (I think that's right) We had such a great time getting to know her family and hanging out. My only regret with our trip is that I didn't get a picture of Abby and myself together...what was I thinking!! I even brought my camera to her house, but parked it next to my coat at the front door and forgot about it until it was time to go...oh well we have next time, right?

Abby found the rock place we visited, Scratchpatchusa. It was a building filled with different colors and kinds of polished rocks. When you first show up you get three choices of bags you can purchase and then you get to fill it with the rocks of your choosing. Even though all three kids were different ages they all loved it and enjoyed it for different reasons. Regan, Erin and Hunter all had their own way of picking the rocks out...Regan took her time selecting just the right ones, Erin picked hers out pretty fast and most of her bag was filled with the same type of clear rocks and Hunter packed his bag so full that it split the bag and we had to ask for another one.

This place was very cool, but in some instances it seemed a little too serene for kids. I don't think the kids paid much attention to the serene music of the water hitting the rocks and the birds chirping in the background. I also don't think the ensence burning that smelled like my great-grandma's house was for the kids either.

The other part I had to laugh about later...Hunter was so excited when he got to this place. Just imagine a 3 year old in a room filled with all these colored rocks....to him this was like a gold mine! He hit the jackpot and he wanted to roll in it, make snow angels in it, run through it, let the rocks run through his fingers. He wasn't the serene little kid that was going to sit there and longingly find the rocks for his bag....he was all over in the rocks!

It looks like everyone had a good time with the rocks. I am not good at remembering to take pictures either. It was good that you all got together after such long time apart. Love, Liz

I had such a good time and am so glad the kids ended up enjoying the rock place. I was so worried it would be a dive. It was a lot of fun if you could get over the smell and the ouchie walking on those rocks! ;)

I love it! Don't you worry, when I open up my rock place it won't be all "zenny". It will be fun and the kids will have a great time in a kid style zone!
