Over the weekend Hunter and I put together a gingerbread house while Matt cheered on his Oklahoma Sooners. (2008 big 12 Champions) It was a win/win. Matt was able to enjoy his game in peace and Hunter and I were able to do a project together.
This was my first time putting together a gingerbread house as well as Hunter's first time. I have to get this out there right away...it is a lot harder than I thought it would be. The frosting was thick like paste and when we would put the candy on it didn't seem like it wanted to stay. Once Hunter realized the candy was edible he spent more time eating the candy than he did decorating. Hunter has such a sweet tooth so he was in hog heaven with the little sugar drops.
When we were done decorating I had Matt come in right away to take the picture as I was afraid it was going to fall apart at any minute. Actually the next morning when I woke up, I was surprised to see all the candy in tact and the only part out of place was the chimney that had fell off....not bad.

I haven't done this with the kids yet. I am thinking this year might be our first.
I think your gingerbread house looks adorable. You'll have to try a train set next year.
I tried that one year but the roof keep falling in. Yours looks much better than mine did.
Happy Holidays.
Yeah I don't do these any more after the year I tried with my kids and thought I would have a melt down moment of anger .... not as fun as I thought it would be ;)
My tip is use hot glue gun and not let anyone eat it!
