Recently Hunter has been wanting to pretend like he is a baby. He wants me to wrap him up like a baby. Not just a baby, but a "baby girl". At first I just pretended with him, then he got to be doing it a lot and it got me thinking. He doesn't know any baby boy's...so I think that is why he wants to be a baby girl. He sees the baby girl at daycare getting special attention and his little girl cousin getting attention.
I know from what I have read and talking to people that kids often at this age will want to pretend like they are a baby again for attention. Matt and I have been trying to show Hunter all the cool things that he gets to do at 3 that babies can't do. Matt was telling me last week for breakfast he told Hunter he was going to take him to get a doughnut for a special treat. Hunter was pretending like he was a baby and Matt told him that was too bad because babies can't eat doughnuts and Matt said instantly Hunter was like, "Dad, I am big boy Hunter. I like doughnuts."
Well the other night at bedtime I was reading a kids Christmas book that talked about the true meaning of Christmas. It talked about Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus. At the end of the book Hunter was wanting me to swaddle him in his blankets and saying he was baby Jesus. So needless to say he went from wanting to be a baby girl to wanting to be baby Jesus.
Has anyone else gone through this baby pretending stage?

Of course, and I love it. Lauren recently told me, "when I grow up I want to be a Lion."
It maybe b/c we have been watching the Narnia movies a lot lately...
Tytus wanted to play this a lot not too long ago. I thought it was just a stage. Normally, he would want to play baby Tytus for a couple of minutes and then want to do something else.
