A caterpillar, a worm and a short, buck toothed girl

I am always on the look out for a good kids book to read to Hunter. The following are two of Hunter's recent favorites. We are definitely wearing the pages out on both of the books. They have such great story lines with morals to boot.

This book is absolutely adorable! Molly Lou Melon is a buck toothed tiny girl with a bull frog voice. Her grandma tells her to stand tall and believe in herself no matter what. She takes what her grandma tells her to heart, exudes confidence so much that the bully at her new school goes from bullying her to bringing her a gift and liking her. The illustrations are faulous!

Moral: Believe in yourself. Confidence.

This book is about a friendship between a worm and a caterpillar. The worm and caterpillar start out digging together until one day the caterpillar decides to go up the tree to see what else is out in the world. The caterpillar who turns into a beautiful butterfly goes back to visit his friend the worm on the ground and the worm is bummed that he didn't go with his friend to the tree to become a beautiful butterfly, because he is still a fat worm. I won't ruin the end of the book, but I got a little choked up at the end. This is a true friendship and a great way to show little ones how they should treat others.
Moral: friendship at it's finest

I will have to try to remember these books when Mack is at that age.

Lauren and I go to the library once a week and the last time we were there we checked out a couple spring books. One on fishing and one about rain. They were horrible! THe one about fishing made it sound like it was inhumane and at the end they did not use a fishing pole or hook just threw bread in for the fish to eat. Dumb. and then the one on rain went on about the creation in a very liberal way, weird. Have to be careful what we check out that is for sure and she is only 3!

I will have to check these two out the next time we are at the library.

I'll have to add them to Erika's Library list.
