Matt is an avid Hunter. He goes every year with his dad. Last year he got a deer and 5x5 elk. He took the elk in to get it mounted. I was a little scared that we were going to have a hairy, big elk head sitting on the wall next to us as we were watching a movie. He let me know that he was going to get a European mount, which meant nothing to me. He explained that it was going to be just the skull and there would no hair or eyes looking at me. I was glad to hear that. The next topic of conversation I had was where is this monstrous thing going to be displayed? We do not have vaulted ceilings in our house to display such a huge elk head nor does it go with the decor. He said he would be happy with putting it in the garage and I was happy to agree with that.
He got this elk last November and finally got the mount back today. I didn't realize, that mounting an animal can take a little bit of time to get back and I actually forgot about it. I was really surprised and at how good it actually looked compared to the beastly picture I had in my mind. Matt is a very good hunter as every year he doesn't ever seem to come back empty handed. I love getting the elk meat as it is very lean and when it is cooked there is almost no grease. I have actually grown to like elk hamburger almost more than beef hamburger.

He looks like a little boy on Christmas morning! He must have been so happy to get it back! :-)
Cool that he got it back. I forgot too.
I have never seen that kind of mount either. I think the heads look nice, if you have the room/space for it.
