Junk table

We got Hunter a train table a couple years ago for Christmas. It has a very cool Fisher Price train set on it, but not like you could see it from this first picture as this table is a collection spot for all Hunter's toys. Hunter has learned with a young dog it is important to keep things off the floor so when he is done playing it gets piled on the train table.

Hunter and I spent some time going through the stuff on the table and in the drawers and organizing it. We made a keep pile, a give away pile and a junk pile (trash can). Of course the keep pile was the biggest and next was the junk pile....the one we really need to work on is the giveaway pile. Hunter was having a hard time with that one. He kept wanting to give trash pile stuff as giveaway. All in all it was a good learning experience for Hunter. There are a couple things I tried to get him to giveaway that he doesn't play with, but he didn't want to give them up...I have a feeling I will be sneaking some things out on my own for goodwill.
Neat for a little while....

oh my gosh that before picture was hilarious. Of course my kitchen table at times looks like that. ha!
I have found small bins with locking lids works for us. The stuff is safe from Diesel and we're teaching Mack to put each category of toy away before getting another bin open. Nice to have all the toys separated with what they are.

Great job sharing the value of a "giveaway" pile with Hunter! I bet that goodwill will stick with him as he grows up.

Also, good for him for keeping plastic toys out of your dog's jaws. My childhood dog had to have intestine surgery after eating something or other that belonged to one of us. :)
