Findng shells

Hunter was so ecstatic to find broken pieces of shells on the beach and wanted to make sure we didn't lose them and took them with us. The Oregon coast is not flowing with a bunch of shells for kids to find. I remember going to Florida when I was a kid and finding all kinds of whole shells on the beach. Here, by the time you find them they are broken little pieces.
My friend Dawn gave me an idea...Since it is so hard to find shells on the Oregon Coast, buy some and toss them out on the beach when the kids are not looking. So that is what we did...
Matt and I had our pockets loaded with shells we bought. When we got on the beach, grandma had the kids pre-occupied and I started emptying my pockets, Matt looked at me in surprise. He thought we were going to wait until we got closer to the water for the wet sand, instead of dumping them in the dry sand. What can I say, I have a hard time waiting to give a surprise.
When Hunter saw the shells, the look of excitement and joy on his face was priceless! It was like Christmas morning finding the mother load of shells. Next time we will spread the shell tossing out, because after we tossed them all out we had no more to toss and the kids kept looking for the big whole shells.

I think everyone has the 'treasure seeker' in them. You just have to nurture it and let it flow.
