After reading my cousin, Mandy's blog about how she chose her kids names, I thought what a great thing to blog about.
Matt and I had Hunter's name chosen when I was about 5 months pregnant, which is a good thing since he was born 10 weeks early. We were driving home having a conversation about names which we did frequently once I found out I was pregnant. We were both throwing out names that we liked. There was a name that I really liked, but was trying to find the right moment and time to bring it up. The reason being, it was a boy that was a boyfriend for about a week in eigth grade. Yah, I know in eigth grade you really only call each other boyfriend and girlfriend at school and pass notes back and forth and maybe sit next to each other at lunch. The boy's name was Hunter. I thought at the time it was the coolest name I had ever heard.
When I brought it up in the car ride I didn't tell him at first it was the boy from eigth grade. I asked if he liked the name and he said he liked it a lot. After I knew that he liked it I told him about the boy. Once he heard it was a boy in junior high and not some long lost boyfriend he was okay with it. Yes, a name could both agree on and liked!
If Hunter would have been a girl, his name would have been Liberty. Matt and I joked since we were doing in-vitro, if we had twins we could name them Liberty and Justice....=)

That is one good lookin family you got there! Hunter has really grown into the name Hunter now too. OH! BTW.....The Hunter you dated in 8th grade has moved out here to Missouri and he keeps askin about you. Do you want me to tell him your not interested any more?? I think he still has a crush on you... lol....JUST KIDDING.. Love Uncle Maurice
Great story. I know the boys like to hear how they were named so Hunter will get a kick out of you telling him you thought this boy had the "coolest" name!
Wow, actually i think the Hunter you named him after might actually be in jail. Lol.
Thanks for the idea. I wrote something too in her journal that I keep separate from her blog.
I didn't have some grand story but at least someday when she asks about how she was named I can let her read about it.
I'm sure Hunter back in the 8th grade really stood out with his name, wasn't as common back then.
I love the comments- he is probably sitting in a jail cell missing his April.
