We got our dog Tuff, (Lab/Shepherd mix) December of 1999 as a puppy. After Hunter was born and we brought him home from the hospital, Tuff sniffed him, but didn't want nothing to do with him. Tuff is a very easy going dog and mild mannered, but Tuff doesn't really want anything do with you unless you have food, have a leash for a walk or want to pet him.
When Hunter started crawling and getting more mobile, Tuff would go to the opposite end of the room as Hunter....it was almost as if he knew it was just better this way so he didn't get stepped on our his hair pulled. Then, with Hunter it go to the point where Hunter didn't even pay attention to Tuff, it was almost like he was just a regular fixture in the house like the table.
With all this being said, Hunter and I took Tuff on a walk the other night, which we do every once in a while to give daddy a break. When we got home, I let Hunter and Tuff in the house while I was putting the jogger stroller away in the garage. I was so delightfully, surprised when I went in the house and saw Hunter sitting next to Tuff petting him, saying "Hi, Tuff. You are a good boy." This was a huge moment for both of them. One for Hunter who was being so sweet to Tuff and wanting to be around our dog without my probing and also for Tuff to sit still long enough for Hunter to pet him. This put such a huge smile on my face!

Super sweet picture. I am sure they are growing on each other.
